Wow, I really don’t appear to have written a lot in my account. That, or I’ve lost a lot of posts. It’s OK either way—I’m just writing away whatever comes into my head. Judging by my previous entries, I was thinking about many different things.

 

I know I made a couple of posts about accessibility. Amazon has come a long way. Their Kindle Fire tablets are accessible, and I had one for a while, but in the end it wasn’t right for me. I use my iPhone with the Kindle app, or iBooks, or Voice Dream Reader, or Audible, or … you get the idea. There are a lot of apps that I have for reading or listening to books and other content. Also, the NLS is giving out e-readers—20-cell Braille displays, and I am awaiting mine eagerly!

 

There are a lot of games out there, too. My current favorite is one called Swordy Quest for the iPhone, and my current favorite for Windows using STEAM is Stardew Valley. A very nice person has made a mod that makes Stardew Valley accessible, and there are many more mods out there to make playing the game such fun! Stardew Valley can be played alone or in a co-op, and I have played in co-ops with blind and sighted players and I have had a blast! It helps that there are various commands we have access to as blind players to help us teleport around the game and get to places easier. I know of blind people who love to just run around on the grid, and I don’t mind that for my farm or for certain areas, but going to town, or the mines, or whatever? I’d rather teleport there and then move around in that grid. It’s much easier for me.

 

I’ll do a post about podcasts that I am listening to tomorrow or Friday, and another post about books sometime this weekend.
